Alfred State welcomes applications for the position of Programmer/Analyst. This full-time position, in the Technology Services department, is responsible for working as a team member in the development, management, implementation, and integration of software applications and reports to the Associate Director of Technology Services.
Responsibilities:
The Programmer/Analyst will work as a team member in the support of Ellucian Banner software, the college's student information system, and will be responsible for all aspects of developing, programming, integration, testing and implementation of applications to support Banner; responsible for the application system interfaces to various third party software, including the data integration and synchronization between systems and interfacing with third party support teams; analyzing user needs and developing solutions to meet user requirements; Manage projects and customer work requests independently, including planning, scheduling, regular communication, and effective use of campus issue/request tracking system; provide user training for questions pertaining to the use of programs, systems, data access tools and data files; develop reports using database reporting products; work closely with various technical and functional departments as needed; Maintain expertise in supported database technologies including Oracle PL/SQL, Groovy, Banner and other Ellucian products, Argos Reporting, SQL Server, and others; Attend SUNY and vendor training seminars when appropriate; working extended and /or flexible hours, including nights and weekends may be required on a project-by-project basis; some overnight and potentially multi-day travel will be required. Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
At the time of appointment, the candidate must possess a two-year degree. Proficiency in SQL programming with modern relational databases. The willingness and ability to function as part of a dynamic team.
Preferred Qualifications:
A four-year degree in a computer related field. Prior experience with Ellucian Banner, Oracle, or any integrated enterprise-wide database. Proficiency with: SQL, PL/SQL, Argos or other BI software, Windows, Linux or Unix, Java, Javascript, PL-SQL Developer, Groovy and Grails and familiarity with IT programming within SUNY. Proficiency in object-oriented programming language(s) such as Java, C++, PHP, Python. Experience developing web-based applications HTML/CSS/Javascript web-based user interfaces
