Postdoctoral Associate | Bioengineering (Organ on a Chip) | Jalili Lab Job at The Jackson Laboratory

The Jackson Laboratory Farmington, CT 06032

Postdoctoral Fellow | Bioengineering (Organ on a Chip)
Jalili Lab
Farmington, CT
The Jalili lab will open in July 2023 and is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects related to establishing an in vitro host immune-microbiome culture model for disease modeling, and vaccine and therapeutic development. We implement multiple technologies, like organoid engineering, organ on a chip platforms, microfluidics and microbiology for modeling skin and intestine inflammatory, autoimmune and cancer conditions, such as dermatitis, psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC), and colon cancer. We will have access to both animal- and patient-derived cells/organoids and microbiome and we will use our complex Organ Chip models to study the underlying mechanisms of these diseases and the role of immune cells in regulating the dysbiosis in skin and intestinal microbial composition. The postdoctoral scientist will lead an exciting project that applies a broad range of cutting-edge technologies, such as microfabrication, Organ on Chip development, bioprinting, organoid culture, microbiome sequencing, single-cell transcriptomics, metagenomics and proteomics. This position will also explore and leverage collaboration with bioengineers and clinicians in the Jackson Laboratory, University of Connecticut, UConn Health and beyond. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in biomedical engineering, biomaterials science, microfluidics, bioprinting, immune engineering, and microbiology.
