JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience as a project manager, construction manager, designer, or engineer, with large complex projects
  • 3-5 years of project management experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of project management principles, and engineering and construction practices in the transmission, distribution, substation, and/or generation field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is highly desirable.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical branch preferred
  • Able to operate computers using word processing, spreadsheet, and civil engineering and architectural software.
  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to come up with timely and efficient solutions to complex problems and issues.
  • Ability to lead a team (internal and external) and organize everyone around a common goal.
  • Able to multitask multiple projects and teams with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Maintain effective work relationships with agencies, contractors, and general public.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work outside occasionally in environmental, atmospheric, and sometimes hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to have close visual acuity.
  • Ability to work outside with increased noise levels and vibrations.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and conditions that are associated with construction and development projects.
  • Positive service-oriented attitude toward the firm, our employees, and the clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and schedule project scoping meetings with client, design consultants, stakeholders, and internal staff
  • Projects may include rehabilitation and new construction of infrastructure systems such as roadways, water systems, sewer systems, drainage facilities and electrical facilities
  • Foster positive client relationships. Directly interact with clients to negotiate contract terms, define scope, and maintain consistent communication.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and manage project team activities.
  • Set goals and evaluate staff performance. Motivate staff to excel in day-to-day work activities and maintain a positive, collaborative, and creative spirit within the team.
  • Coordinate/conduct pre-bid meetings as required
  • Define and control project scope, budget, and schedule. Assist in reviewing Requests for Proposals, preparing fees and contracts, and monitor project billing
  • Evaluate bids for compliance and recommend construction contract award
  • Coordinate compliance with Chapter 343, HRS, including preparation of an Environmental Assessment if necessary
  • General technical project oversight/management, technical design
  • Preparation of fee proposals and other project pursuit work
  • Monthly project progress billing and manage profitability of each project and team.
  • Coordinate post contract documents and draft Authorization for Change, order prints, and distribute post contract documents
  • Performs other related duties if necessary.
