SUMMARY:
The Department of Health and Human Performance is seeking faculty for a non-tenure track position as an Instructor in the department of Sports Management. This position will begin in Fall 2023.
The successful candidate will teach courses in Sport and Recreation Management / Athletic Administration and serve as the program coordinator for the undergraduate concentration in Sport and Recreation Management. The successful applicant will teach twelve credit hours (4/4), advise students, supervise student research, establish a research/scholarly agenda, serve on department and university committees, and seek funding within and outside of the university. Other duties as assigned.
Individuals must have a master’s degree in Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or related field. Preference will be given to individuals who have higher education teaching experience, have a strong record of or research potential, and have experience supervising/advising students. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the professional sport world, as a practitioner.
The position is a full-time, 9-month, position as an instructor. Summer teaching is optional but not guaranteed. The position will primarily serve as the program coordinator for the BS in Sport and Recreation Management. Faculty at Texas A & M University-Commerce are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach courses in the areas of Sport Management and Athletic Administration.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and community
- Coordinate the undergraduate program in Sport and Recreation Management offered by the Department of Health & Human Performance and oversee the growth of the degree.
- Establish a research/scholarly agenda.
- Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master degree in one of the following areas: Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or a related field.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: The candidate should demonstrate teaching competency and effectiveness in the following areas: Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or International Sport Management or related field. Must have primary teaching experience at the university level. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to establish and pursue research and scholarship and will be expected to serve on thesis committees/projects and advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Ability to: Multi-task and work well as part of a team.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Professional Sport Agent:
- Must be a licensed sport agent or previously held licensure within the last two years with verifiable professional athlete references
- Experience in International Sport Contract Negotiations and International Athlete Management
- Working connections with Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Legends, and other professional teams.
- Experience in Sport Public Relations and Full-Scale Athlete Management in Football, Basketball, MMA, UFC, Rodeo, Motor Sports, USA Track & Field, USA Olympic Sports.
- Experience working with a Sport Specific Non-Profits (e.g.Concussion Legacy Foundation)
- Experience with holding and managing Symposiums and Showcases for Professional Athletes.
- University-level teaching experience of Sport Management, Athletic Administration or International Sport Management
- Understanding of the International Sport World as a scholar or a practitioner (or both) and have established connections with both.
- Experience with sport marketing for professional teams/organizations.
- Experience in the evolving role for sport agents, professional teams, and the globalization of sport.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Commitment to diversity and working in multicultural contexts.
- Service on Academic Advisory Boards for Sport Management
- Service as Faculty Advisor for Student Organizations
- Bilingual
