Summary
The Anacortes Turnaround and Construction Supervisor has the responsibility of managing the construction of small and large capital and expense engineering projects as well as building and managing the 10 year turnaround and 10 year tank plans and budgets. This position supervises a multi-discipline team of turnaround area leads and is responsible for managing all phases of turnarounds from planning, scheduling, execution and closeout to achieve business objectives. This position also supervises the tank program lead and project construction supervisor. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and the successful candidate will work closely with representatives from all departments in support of Turnaround and Construction execution success.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and development of Turnaround Area Leads, Construction and Tank employees
- Direct the activities of employees within reporting structure. Define goals and objectives. Provide feedback on performance and career goals of direct reports.
- Interact daily with MPC Area Leads, Project Controls, Planners, Schedulers, Operations, and contractors to progress planning and execution activities.
- Supervise the overall scope development of TAR events working with all departments to ensure scope is captured properly on the worklist and optimized to include only outage required work.
- Drives compliance of POP milestones for assigned events.
- Review work scope approvals (WSAs), request for information (RFIs), iTAR worklist, and P6 primavera schedule on a consistent basis.
- Validate overall manpower and equipment hiring plans with Area Leads, Project Controls and contractors.
- Supervise, review, monitor all work during execution. Adjust resources as necessary during the turnaround to complete scope safely, on schedule, and on budget.
- Ensure compliance with all plant safety rules and actively leads safety improvement initiatives for the group.
- Support development of contracting strategies with MPC Supply Chain.
- Supervise organization’s adherence of QA/QC, system turnover, and punch list tracking and closeout processes.
- Supervise, review and monitor the tank group to ensure the budgeting, planning and execution remains within compliance to budget and due dates
- Ensure project construction group effectively plans and executes engineering project work within schedule and budget
- Devise methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
Skills
- The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills and a high level of competency with planning and scheduling
- Experience and/or knowledge of systems such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft suite of programs, word, excel, outlook etc.
- Five or more years of turnaround execution experience
- Previous supervisory experience
Preferred Requirements
- Experience and/or knowledge of MPC systems such as iTAR, iCon, IPS, etc
Education Level: High School Diploma/GED Required. Degree in Engineering is preferred
Relevant Experience Level: 4-10 minimum
