Responsibilities
The Evaluation Lead provides high level evaluation research design, analyses, and interpretation expertise and management of all health disparities projects and programs within the Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD or the Center). In close partnership with Center leadership, this position oversees the Center’s evaluation activities and is the leading member of a team of data analysts working on the evaluation of a variety of different projects. The Evaluation Lead works closely with project funders at the federal, state, and local level and the Center’s Project Managers to develop evaluation plans and strategies that meet funders’ requirements and goals. Additionally, the Evaluation Lead manages, collects, analyzes, and interprets project data using advanced research quantitative and qualitative methods and perform data quality reviews and audits and write reports.
Required Qualifications
Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
  • Masters level in evaluation, social and/or behavioral science, biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience/training.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing and overseeing evaluation projects (design and implementation).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in evaluation research and methods
  • Experience with programming, managing, and analyzing data using statistical software such as SAS and/or Stata
  • 1-2 years’ experience obtaining, managing and/or analyzing large datasets for multidisciplinary research projects
  • Experience with qualitative research methods such as key informant interviews, focus groups, etc.
  • Experience with scientific manuscript writing and data analysis and interpretation in an academic or research setting
  • Experience or working knowledge of research ethics
  • Experience working effectively with diverse partners and community members
  • Experience with MS Access, Excel, SharePoint, or related database management software
  • Familiarity with the various type of data collected such as data from program participant surveys, interviews, focus groups, administrative databases, archival data, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills appropriate to lead multiple projects at a time.
  • Advance understanding of principles of research study design and execution of statistical data analysis
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, making significant creative contributions, within a multidisciplinary group of researchers and staff and within a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and the willingness to assume responsibility readily
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures, and/or Sponsor requirements for maintaining confidentiality of all private information
  • Ability to demonstrate adherence to the UC Davis Principles of Community
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD should be in the area of evaluation, social and/or behavioral science, biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, or a closely related field.
  • Experience leading data analysts’ teams or other data positions
  • Experience with publishing peer reviewed articles
  • Experience with Community-Engaged Research and Community-Based Participatory Research
  • Experience and knowledge of Python programming
  • Experience with GIS methods
Special Requirements
  • This position has the flexibility to be mainly remote, however in-person meetings will be required from time to time depending on the needs of projects and based on grant sponsor guidelines.
  • This position may also be required to travel to various sites for data collection as needed.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
