Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a Lead Building Engineer with strong Building Automation System, Controls and HVAC Mechanical skills to engage in the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of heating and ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) systems. In this position you will have the opportunity to work on both large systems at the scale of a central utility plant, roof top units and air handlers throughout the entire airport.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Performs lead work over staff responsible for the daily operation of, service and periodic preventative maintenance on, a facility’s mechanical, electrical, HVAC, EMCS (Energy Management Control Systems) and plumbing systems, including air handling units, domestic cool and hot water systems, heating and chill water systems, sump and sewage systems, diesel generators, fuel management, and fire protection, pump and detection systems
  • Coordinates operation, service & maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians for contracted work
  • Coordinates contractor, tenant and management approvals for work orders that require the use of an outside contractors
  • Supervises EMCS operation, maintenance, service and troubleshooting activities
  • Supervises all EMCS activities Testing & Commissioning for new & upgrade works
  • Coordinates & follows up on all EMCS Warranty Period Activities including Snags Rectification Works with all related parties
  • Coordinates all EMCS new & upgrades Handing Over activities with all related parties
  • Develops work plan to upgrade current EMCS procedures to any future upgrades
  • Supports supervisor in the training of employees, in particular EMCS activities
  • Responds to afterhours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours.
  • Develops or modifies work plans, methods, and procedures, determines work priorities, and develops work
  • Schedules to provide adequate staff coverage
  • Provides work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments.
  • Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness, and returns assignments with
  • Recommendations for proper completion
  • Participates in snow removal duties
  • Other duties as assigned
About You
We are looking for dedicated mechanics with drive and ambition to maintain and keep DEN operational 24/7. There will be daily interaction with tenants ranging from the flying public to concessioners to DEN employees. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills will be crucial to success for this individual.
We are looking for candidates with some of all following skills and experience
  • Leading teams or contractors
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts based on business needs
  • Knowledge of Johnson controls, Metasys system or similar systems a plus
  • Ability to adapt and learn new systems
  • Four (4) years of experience in Central Utility Plant Work consisting of Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, and all other affiliated hydronic equipment
  • Stationary Engineers and or Refrigeration Class A Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience in building operations, engineering and equipment and systems maintenance. One (1) year of building operations experience must include experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Requires either a valid journey certificate of qualification or equivalency as required in trades specialty issued by the City and County of Denver or a valid journey license issued by the State of Colorado by the end of probationary period.

FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
