ProspectBlue is partnered with a local machine shop in Richmond, VA looking for a Quoting Specialist to join their team!

SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing customer requests for quote to determine feasibility and pricing. Identify all material, tooling needs and methods to manufacture precision machine components and assemblies. Maintain backlog within the company by effective follow-up campaigns with existing customers and careful schedule analysis. Work with most office staff and certain production personnel, to include Shop Foreman, Quality Control, Supervisors, and Leads.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

• Perform all tasks while adhering to Company priorities of Safety, Quality and Productivity
• Learn, understand, and comprehend Company policies and procedures
• Responsible for all aspects of generating quotes and following set forth procedures developed by the company, including:

• Write and review routers
  • Verify material requirements to customer specifications
  • Ensure all deliverables are documented and available for full execution of customer needs, including but not limited, to outside services processes
  • Utilize Global Shop to review/research history to ensure all elements/outliers are addressed
• Verify Customer requirements are communicated and clearly understood; utilize customer RFQ to determine that all elements are fully addressed and documented
  • Inspection requirements
  • Engraving details
  • Material compliances
  • Special requirements/processes
  • Fixturing
  • Programming/Design
  • Special tooling requirements
  • Request quotes from suppliers for materials and special processes
• Determine internal manufacturing methods and requirements including outside services

• Effectively monitor Advanced Planning Scheduling system to fill open capacity
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and/or Planning to ensure capacity is accurate in order to win quotes
• Perform contract reviews to ensure customer or prospect requirements are understood and can be met, including lead time
  • Maintain communication throughout the quoting process with buyers, engineers, etc. via phone and/or email
  • Utilize Advanced Planning Scheduling (APS) to determine the project timeline
• Communicate with existing customers during the quoting and job execution process via phone and/or email
• Attend on-site training and safety classes to increase knowledge

• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Must pass background check and drug test

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Ten years or more of contract manufacturing experience as a machinist required
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing techniques
  • Raw materials

  • Fixturing
• Experience with Global Shop Solutions or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D Quality Management Systems

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

• Computer skills required in this position (Microsoft Office Products)
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize Advance Planning System (APS) within the ERP System
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and apply other math concepts to find practical solutions
• Ability to comprehend complex detailed drawings (mechanically inclined mindset)
• Ability to develop and comprehend complex quote.
