Program Supervisor (Project Silk)

We are currently looking for a qualified applicant to fill the following position: FT - Program Supervisor (Project Silk) ($51k - $60k).
Job Description: Under the President's and the Senior Vice President's authority, and the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Prevention Services, the Supervisor of Project Silk is responsible for managing program referrals, case assignments and waiting lists, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff, administrative documentation of services provided, and overall program management. The Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive service area. Primary duties include recruitment, facilitation, curriculum oversight, and other aspects of the day-to-day management of Project Silk programming. The Supervisor and the Program Coordinator should work together to ensure positive community relations and quality services.
Additionally, the Supervisor tracks program & client outcomes and submits reports according to agency, county, state, and federal requirements.
Critical Functions:
  • To accept referrals, make case assignments and establish, maintain, review, monitor, and assign cases from waiting lists as appropriate.
  • To provide high-quality leadership and supervision to team members, volunteers, and interns in all program settings and foster a culturally sensitive, youth-centered environment, including: - Regular weekly meetings of at least one hour with each full-time staff member. - Meeting with part-time staff as necessary. - Telephone consultation as necessary. – Crisis telephone consultation through access of a cell phone on a rotating basis.
  • To provide verbal and written feedback to staff including commendations and disciplinary and performance issues as appropriate, including a one-month and three-month verbal review, one year written reviews, and periodic evaluations as specified in the agency personnel policies.
  • To supervise the overall services and ensure the quality of care, completeness of documentation in accordance with program standards, and conformance with program procedures and protocols.
  • To review staff time sheets on a bi-weekly basis, to assure service provision meets program standards and review and approve/disapprove program staff requests for vacation, personal time, and out of agency training requests.
  • To maintain a regular staff meeting schedule, meeting minimally one time per month, for the purpose of sharing agency information, and providing education and support to staff.
  • To interview and participate in the selection of staff for openings and ensure incoming staff members are culturally sensitive and competent. Additionally, the Supervisor must ensure that new staff members are properly trained and oriented to the program.
  • To immediately report to the President, Senior Vice President, and Associate Director when a death occurs in an open case or a case that has closed with the agency within the last 90 days.
  • To immediately report to the President, Senior Vice President, and Associate Director any situation in which a client or staff is threatening to sue or file a complaint against the agency.
  • To immediately report to the President, Senior Vice President, and Associate Director the filing of criminal charges or child abuse reports regarding clients or staff.

Essential Functions:
  • Promote youth and team well-being by creating physically, emotionally and mentally safe spaces and proactively addressing negativity by integrating designated modalities from a trauma-informed, positive youth development perspective.
  • Ensure up-to-date paper & electronic program and client records in compliance with agency practices & protocols, county, state & federal regulations and private grant requirements as applicable.
  • Monitor program data elements and complete designated monthly reports documenting the program's activities, outcomes and other relevant themes and components in a timely manner.
  • Engage in networking activities and presentations to generate relationships with fellow employees/colleagues and external individuals, agencies, businesses and other community partners to promote the program area and link young people to resources.
  • Review and update the “library/workbook” of program activities, curriculum and marketing materials as needed and in conjunction with the Program Coordinator and any other team members.
  • Address and report any crisis or critical incident as defined by the agency and/or county, state, or federal regulations according to the agency's formalized practice and protocols.
  • Participate in the grant writing, reporting, and grant renewal processes to help secure funding for Project Silk Lehigh Valley programming.

Other Duties:
  • Understand and adhere to Valley Youth House policies, practices, and procedures.
  • To participate in weekly scheduled supervision with the direct supervisor and be prepared with an agenda.
  • To complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.

Qualifications:
  • The Program Supervisor shall be a mature individual with the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of positive youth development in the Project Silk program.
  • The Program Supervisor will possess sound judgment and knowledge of adolescent development, group instruction and curriculum development.
  • This individual will be organized and highly adept at managing multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Successful team members are creative thinkers and flexible in their approaches to people and projects.
  • They will never have been convicted of any prohibited criminal or child abuse offense.
  • They shall possess a minimum of five years of experience working with adolescents.
  • A Master's Degree in education, social work, human services or an equivalent combination of experience in the field and education is preferred.
