Process Engineer

Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining operational standards in the plant. They work to identify equipment performance issues and identify opportunities for new or upgraded equipment, as well as developing operating standards for new or upgraded equipment.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain operating standards on existing equipment. Publish work instructions. Train staff on new or updated work instructions and monitor compliance.
• Work with Management to assist in developing the Plant Capital Improvement Plan, as well as the Continuous Process Improvement Plan. Take a leadership role in the implementation of assigned projects in key plant areas. Qualify and document improvements achieved from project implementation.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in existing equipment and control systems to achieve the goal of reducing complexity in all processes.
• Develop reporting systems for operational metrics.
• Work with the Corporate Innovation group for new process or product testing and plant implementation.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineer and quality department in developing design specifications and qualification testing for new or modified equipment. Develop operational standards and procedures on new equipment or processes.

Communication/Other Duties

• Maintains good housekeeping.
• Follows all company and customer safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Responds to change productively.
• Handles other duties as required.
• Follow appropriate quality procedures and work instructions.
• Assist in training employees on appropriate items.
• Attend training classes in-plant or other locations as assigned.

Education and Additional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years in a Process Engineering role in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Preference will be given to those with experience in continuous inorganic chemical processing. Continuous Bulk Powder Processing and solid-liquid slurry experience are a plus.
