GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

La Belle Production Support Technician ensures equipment and facilities meet operating requirements, objectives, and production. Responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing breakdowns on plant equipment, machines, and facilities as they occur along with assisting production.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

· Perform facility and manufacturing equipment evaluation, set-up and repair. Includes: assessment, repair and preventive maintenance.

· Perform maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance activities and complete related documentation per the Standard Operating Procedures for building, manufacturing, packaging and other equipment (e.g. compressed air, HVAC, etc.)

· Work in compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and safe work practices and procedures, using personal protective equipment and safety equipment as required.

· Properly use personal protective equipment as required.

· Identify, report and repair deficiencies on all mechanical, electrical and manufacturing equipment and systems throughout the plant.

· Identify, source and order appropriate equipment parts.

· Perform minor repairs including plumbing, painting, carpentry, minor fabrication (forming and welding) and other general repairs as needed in the facility.

· Communicate daily maintenance activities with Plant Manager as well as update all daily logs.

· On-call support required per department “on-call” procedures. Weekend work and overtime will be required.

· Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all plant equipment.

· Work with plant management to assist in determining specs for fabrication of plant equipment.

· Assist in the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve qualify and efficiencies in the maintenance department. Dumping and cleaning buckets of frozen colostrum.

· Packaging powder in the dryer rooms.

· Cleaning the outside of tanks and equipment.

· Handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with the SDS and using proper PPE at all times.

· Training to operate specific pieces of equipment and, once signed off, operating them independently.

· Understand and fill out master batch records correctly and completely.

· Cross-training and working in other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED

· Plus to have electrical certification

· 3+ years’ experience in industrial maintenance

· 3+ years’ experience in a GMP and/or FDA regulated manufacturing setting preferred

· Experience in a dairy processing plant is considered a plus

Knowledge

· Knowledge of operation and maintenance of hand and small power tools, mechanical and/or plumbing equipment.

· Knowledge in chiller and boiler systems.

· Knowledge of electrical circuits and troubleshooting.

Skills

· Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are highly desired

· Exercise judgement in executing necessary adjustments on equipment as required to maintain a safe operation and quality standards.

· Read equipment schematics and hydraulic drawings.

· Familiarity with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and practices

· Working knowledge of GMP’s, CFR 111, food allergen handling and other food safety related practices including safe quality food requirements

Abilities

· Must be able to operate safely all hand tools, power tools and other maintenance related equipment.

· Ability to perform building maintenance and ground activities in a proficient and timely manner.

· Ability to conduct root-cause analysis on equipment breakdowns.

· Able to life and move heavy or awkward objects, visual acuity, manual dexterity, repetitive movements and work in a confined area. Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.

· Able to write coherently and clearly.

· Ability to maintain a good attendance record is required.

· Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.

· Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
