Job Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Reports To: Medical Director

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time (part time may be available)

Annual Salary: $89,599 to $134,399 a year, depending on number of years of transferable experience and internal equity.

SUMMARY – The person in this position provides primary and preventive care in a community health center clinic, in accordance with licensure and approved privileges. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner works within a Patient Centered Medical Home model of care as a team member to support the patient in achievement of health goals and/or improvement in health outcomes.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assess patient’s health by obtaining a history and physical examination.
  • Develops and implements patient management/treatment plans.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies and advises patient on the results.
  • Treatment of minor injuries: management of wounds, infection, suturing, splinting/casting.
  • Facilitate referrals of patients of other medical providers, medical facilities or other health/social agencies.
  • If qualified by training and experience, as determined by the clinic, may perform medical treatments, diagnostic procedures.
  • Seeks to involve patient and family in informed decision making with regards to their illness, growth and development, family planning, mental health difficulties, and promoting health and wellness through preventative means.
  • Provides patient education regarding chronic medical conditions, acute illness, mental health issues, and preventative medicine.
  • Document provided patient care services in the electronic health record. Ensuring clinical documentation is complete, accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Provider will maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing professional publication; establishing personal; participating in professional societies.
  • Work in a collaborative team based system alongside; resident Physicians, and faculty Physicians, and behavioral health providers.
  • Expected to understand and comply with all current laws, rules, and regulation, which govern the practice of Physician Assistants in the state of Montana.
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities;
  • Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.
  • Recognizes and educates staff that managing patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and nonclinical staff (e.g. physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, educators, front desk staff, schedulers, etc) interacting with patients to achieve stated objectives.

  • A Master’s degree in physician assistant studies

  • Physician Assistant Licensed in the State of Montana;
  • Must be credentialed and privileged.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. and
  • Considerable clinical and or hospital nursing experience. or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of Montana.
  • Must be credentialed and privileged.
