Position Summary:
Examines diagnoses and treats diseases and disorders of visional system, the eye and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions. The schedule for this position is 32 hours, 4 days per week.

Responsibilities:

• Examines internal and external structures of the eyes to diagnose eye diseases, systemic diseases, and vision conditions.
• Examines eyes to determine presence of diabetic retinopathy
• Examines eyes and performs various tests to determine visual acuity and perception and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities, such as glaucoma and color blindness.
• Prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, low vision aides, vision therapy, and medicines to treat eye disease.
• Consults with other health care practitioner for co-management of care that affects the eye and systemic health.
• Specializes in type of services provided, such as contact lenses, low vision aids or vision therapy, or in treatment of specific groups, such as children or elderly patients.

Requirements/ Qualifications:

• Diploma from an accredited school of optometry
• Must have current California license of Optometry with TPA certification,
• At least one year of full/part time experience providing services as an Optometrist. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills highly preferred.

Observes CMOAR policy/procedures regarding conduct in the work place:

• Observe regulations on time card use and reporting
• Maintain attendance as per policy
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Observe general Safety/Employee Health policies and procedures including Fire regulations.
• Maintain a current annual health screening.
• Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of clients with regard to personal records and program issues development.
• Display clearly visible identification.
• Treats all employees, clients, neighborhood committee members with respect, dignity and in a courteous and professional manner in accordance to non-discriminatory policies and procedures and Union Agreement.
• Conduct only work related conversations when clients are waiting for service.
• Do not discuss other staff members, policies, problems or medical care in public areas of clinic
• Selected applicants are subject to, and must pass, a full background check.
• Must provide proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations including recommended doses in the primary series AND booster dose when eligible.
