An energetic Optician, or Dispensing Optician, is responsible for helping customers achieve the right type of eyeglasses, lens shape or contact lenses in accordance with their eyesight or eye conditions. Their duties include communicating with other eye care professionals to receive prescriptions and send them to Laboratory Technicians, providing customers with sample frames to fit their prescriptions and maintaining accurate customer data regarding their current or updated prescriptions as well as billing to insurance using an EHR. Duties and responsibilities Include:

Optician assists and educates patients with their selection of eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens enhancements

•
They are responsible for overseeing all duties in the optical area, including placing orders to maintain inventory, dispensing, lab finishing, and repairs and adjustments for eyeglasses

•
This position also requires office support and assisting customers with appointments

•
Assists and educates patients with the selection of frames, lenses, and lens enhancements based on the patient’s prescription and specific needs

•
Processes eyeglasses, which includes pricing, measuring, collecting money, coding and documenting patient charts

•
Repairs and adjusts eyeglasses while ensuring patient satisfaction

•
Maintains clean, organized and stocked eyeglass displays

•
May assist patients with the purchase of contact lenses, teach new contact lens wearer how to insert, remove, clean and care for lenses

•
Manages inventory of eyeglass frames, accessories, tools and office supplies

•
Meets company safety rules and standards to include following guidelines for hazardous material handling and waste disposal

•
Control lab inventory through auditing tray management procedures, special orders, check-in of lenses, breakage, returns, and the monitoring of damaged and defective product

•
Attends continuing education courses to keep informed of new technology and advances in the optical industry

•
Problems are resolved by making every effort to provide patient satisfaction while maintaining composure and offering appropriate assistance

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
