- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
- You are familiar with all policies and procedures relating to the Front Desk, Security, Reservations, Guest Services and Food & Beverage, providing hands-on support as needed
- You act as Manager on Duty for the hotel during the overnight shift
- You assist the Director, Front Office and Assistant Director, Front Office in all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed
- You are able to manage the operation and make decisions in the absence of senior leadership
- You ensure that the entire Front Office and the surrounding areas including Lobby, Concierge, Front Drive and Front Desk is continuously clean and tidy
- You assist in all areas of hotel operations to ensure things run smoothly (i.e. – assisting In Room Dining, Bell Services, Front Office, Housekeeping, Royal Service, and Engineering.)
- You provide managerial support for Overnight Team Members in the daily operational duties for these areas in the absence of the department managers
- You are an inspiration to all hotel staff to achieve luxury levels of performance
- You assist in fostering a culture where colleagues focus on their role of doing whatever it takes to exceed guest expectations while performing multiple functions
- You are supervising of all night cleaners by doing regular floor sweeps of the hotel. Conduct break relief for night staff in all departments as needed
- You communicate through pre-shift logs, emails and departmental meetings all pertinent information for the respective shift and areas of operation
- You are an integral part of the management team, attends all scheduled meetings and contributes actively with proper preparation
- You train new Front Office Team Members (onboarding and continuing training)
- You train colleagues on correct procedures as required
- You develop colleagues in order for them to learn and grow
- You generate and distribution of Management reports
- You are present at the Reception/Front Desk whenever possible
- You promptly and effectively handle any complaints
- You meet and greet VIP guests
- You co-ordinate arrivals and departures, monitoring waiting times, always keeping guests informed and ensuring that they are as comfortable as possible
- You actively seek feedback from colleagues and guests; following-up and taking action
- You ensure procedures are followed when dealing with intoxicated persons, thefts, evictions, cash escorts and lost and found articles
- You drive rate and RevPar through upselling room types
- You resolve guest complaints and concerns with a solution that is tailored to the guests and is solved in a timely manner
- You make recommendations for activities and restaurants
- You assist with luggage and transportations inquiries
- You enroll guests to Accor Live Limitless loyalty program and update profiles when applicable
- You ensure enough supplies of all stationary items are in storage
- You organize workflow and ensuring that associates understand their duties or delegated tasks
- You visually observe associate productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching when applicable
- You determine and communicate necessary projects for operation or cleanliness
- You are member of the Emergency Response Team, including Fire Safety, First Aid and general crisis management
- You assist the Front Office and Account Teams in the completion of Daily Accounting, IT and Audit work
- You conduct a handover at the end of each shift with relieving staff, informing them of any special requirements or problems
- You adhere to and promote the company’s Health & Safety policies to ensure a safe work environment and knowledgeable in all safety and emergency procedures
- You contact guests via preferred method in the lobby, dining area, or other parts of property
- You are familiar with Hotel’s technology and communication platforms, and utilize to ensure hotel operation and guest satisfaction
- You are familiar with Fairmont Century Plaza, all the facilities and services offered
- You actively participate in and support all green/recycling initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
- Two years of previous supervisory experience at the Front Desk, Security or Night Audit is required
- Highly motivated and guest driven with the proven ability to solve problems and make timely and effective decisions, especially in a crisis situation
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, guests and external contacts, both verbally and written
- Proactive with a demonstrated eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple functions/projects while meeting deadlines
- Strong computer skills, especially in Word, Excel and PMS
- Must have a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of hotel operations
- Must be available to work overnight shift
