Reporting to the CEO, a HiBar Legal Operations Specialist is responsible for management of existing and new contracts, lease agreements, all aspects of risk management. This leader implements the organization’s policies and regulations and partners with the CFO & Leadership Team to modify, delete, or create new policies and actions as appropriate. The Legal Operations Specialist will act as a liaison between attorneys and the business, providing research, documentation preparation, and review when necessary. This leader will work diligently to ensure a smooth transition and integration of all Legal and Administrative activities at HiBar Hospitality.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Essential Functions
Compliance
- Provides leadership education on known issues
- Contributes to proactive assurance and business monitoring
- Evaluates existing plans and advises on legal updates, changes, or trends
- Ensures training and coaching of team members to enhance compliance and legal awareness
- Promotes the development and implementation of corrective action plans to mitigate future risks
- Oversees worker’s comp and guest injury claims
- Build contract database
Leadership
- Understands and promotes HiBar culture and brand image, stays abreast of market conditions and competitive issues/events, uses industry knowledge to benefit the organization
- Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.
- Seeks and welcomes the opportunity to learn new techniques and tasks.
- Builds support and commitment among others around company initiatives
Risk Management
- Meets with attorneys and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Contracts
- Conducts periodic contract review. Establishes and executes a plan to consolidated contracts utilizing HiBar purchasing power to secure favorable terms.
- Will create and maintain a contract database to warehouse all critical contract information, and enable effective ongoing management (renewal, termination, renegotiation, etc).
Minimum Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate required
- 3+ years relevant industry legal experience preferred
- Experience in a senior legal or compliance role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
- Significant experience in or knowledge of retail, restaurant and/or grocery industries.
