In-House Substitute Teacher/Administrative Support
Position Overview
Nueva School is seeking several self-starters to work as in-house substitute teachers/administrative support for each division at the school—one each for lower, middle, and upper school. The in-house substitute teacher's work day is typically from 7:45am to 4:15pm and centers around implementing lesson plans in a range of classrooms, supervising recesses and lunch times, and supporting other staff on projects or other duties when not in the classroom. The ideal candidate will be flexible, enjoy working with students and communicating with colleagues, and have some experience with classroom management. In-house substitute teachers work on all days when students are in attendance and the positions are full-time fully benefited positions.
This is a 10-month role, and the hours are from 7:45am - 4:15pm.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead classes and implement substitute teaching plans across a range of grades and subject areas, supporting a respectful classroom culture.
- Supervise recess, lunch, and additional duties with attention to student safety and wellbeing, upholding our community expectations with students.
- Communicate with teachers and staff to support a positive class experience.
- Assist with other special projects and duties as delegated.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Personable, positive, helpful personality.
- Experience supporting positive classroom management and/or student supervisory experience.
- Ability to solve problems with creativity, professionalism, tact and kindness.
- Ability to manage competing demands, and adapt to frequent or unexpected changes.
- Compassionate, empathetic and intuitive.
- Maturity, judgment, and emotional stability.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Compensation
The hourly salary range for this position is $24/hour to $29/hour. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of experience, education level, and expertise.
