Field Manager Student Nutrition Job at Chester County School District
NATURE OF WORK
The field manager works on an independent basis to provide consistent feedback on school nutrition operations by observing and participating in daily meal service. Under direction of the Director of Student Nutrition Services, assists in development and planning of menus to provide nutritional balanced and appetizing foods while adhering to federal, state and local regulations. Provides technical advice and recommendations to the student nutrition managers and staff of Chester County School District. The field manager has the operational awareness of revenue and expenses, kitchen operations, manage multiple sites, and complete administrative duties.
Role and Responsibilities
- Visit each school cafeteria at least once per month and complete Site Inspection Report
- Provide feedback and training to student nutrition personnel
- Review all daily paperwork to insure compliance with Federal, State and District Regulations
- Monitor monthly inventory to ensure accuracy
- Insure HAACP training and implementation is operational at each cafeteria site.
- Participate in the scheduling and hiring of potential candidates
- Coordinate training activities for Student Nutrition staff along with the Director
- Plans and coordinates catering events along with the Director of Student Nutrition
- Complete assignments from Director of Student Nutrition including the operation of kitchens when necessary
- Conducts required edit checks, review afterschool snack programs at participation sites
- Knowledgeable about the operational guidelines of the USDA School Meal Programs
- Assists the Director of Student Nutrition with maintaining the nutrition analysis software with up to date information
- Collects nutritional information on products, provides computer generated analysis of all menus and interprets dietary guidelines
- Develops procedures for introduction of new products and systems: conducts cost effectiveness studies
- Recommends the selection of food for appropriate quality, test, texture, price, acceptability and appearance to be used in the school nutrition program
- Plan and coordinates the summer feeding programs
- May be required to respond outside of normal work hours for emergencies
- Attends occasional evening and overnight meetings
- Attends continuing education, in sufficient quantity to maintain CEU’s as required under USDA Professional Standards regulation
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Nutrition Services
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- College degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition or a related field. Equivalent education and/or documented work experience of 5 years of food service management
- Working knowledge of USDA and South Carolina Health Department regulations concerning child nutrition
- Ability to administer school nutrition programs, including supervision and instruction of employees as necessary
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Ability to use a point of service (POS) system
- Excellent oral, written and human relation skills
- Be able to professionally represent the Student Nutrition Department in a positive manner
- Proven ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision and to carry a project to is completion
- Ability to exercise good judgement in making decisions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Must obtain/maintain ServSafe and SC HAACP certifications within 12 months of hire

Salary: Administrative Support Staff Salary Schedule - Group 3
Salary commensurate with experience and education
Length of Employment: 245 days; 7.5 hours per day
