Realytix is one of the first innovation projects which have made it out of the innovation stage into becoming an operational unit which grows exponentially strong. The highly motivated Realytix team consists of colleagues with a broad range of know how – Sales, Underwriters, IT Developers, IT Platform Architects and Data Engineers and applies agile methodologies.

Realytix Zero is Munich Re's cloud-based digital transaction platform for primary insurance companies, PI Brokers, MGAs and RI Brokers focusing on worldwide non-life standard business (new and existing products) and focusing on the “Rate-Quote-Bind” process. The platform helps reinsurance clients (insurance companies or RI brokers) to efficiently receive automatic MR reinsurance coverage within minutes instead of hours or days. Primary insurers (or MGAs) can use Realytix for being first mover in the market with new products or becoming a digital player with existing products to generate new business. The no-code/low-code platform (self-configurable) shall help clients to increase their (process) efficiency, to be flexible in a quickly changing market environment and to save costs. The strong API capabilities of Realytix Zero help to address all different kinds of distribution needs. With intelligent dashboards Realytix enables clients to analyze and monitor their portfolio and optimize tariffs.

The Opportunity

Digital solutions and digital platforms are the key drivers for future growth. The Realytix Zero is a worldwide scalable Automated Underwriting Technology Platform comprising of rules and pricing engines to digitize & automate the underwriting of single risk business based on self-configuration for our business owners.

The Realytix team was built in the headquarter in Munich and will now grow further internationally in US. The Business Development Manager is expected to drive the business development and scale up of the Realytix Zero platform in the US. This role will work closely with the Realytix team in Munich and be a key partner in advancing and executing the sales & business development strategy while helping the business grow. The business development manager is expected to drive technological platform developments based on the needs of our clients and structure solutions which enable the go-to-market-strategy. He/ she is expected to source and drive the execution of business opportunities in the North America Region.

Responsibilities include:
  • Create/ Identify, prioritize and implement forward looking client strategies for all internal and external clients and distribution channels in line with Key Priorities and Line of Business Strategies.
  • Co-develop the sales & business development strategy for the North America region while working closely with the Realytix team in Munich and other internal Munich Re entities to contribute to the growth strategies of Realytix Zero for the region.
  • Manage the business leads and opportunities for growing the business continuously and servicing the in-force business
  • Execute sales and business development deals and be the first touch point for new and existing clients. Develop negotiation strategies and tactics to ensure achievement of financial objectives for the clients in US. Partner with Business Consultant and Development team to establish final terms for individual placements, price and other relevant terms and conditions.
  • Interpret the business needs, provide consultation to business, influence decisions and communicate effectively to meet business and marketing objectives. Market the full Realytix Zero capabilities, including pitching new products and services as appropriate for the client’s needs. Share the Munich Re perspective on important industry issues at industry events and individual client/broker meetings.
  • Develop and realize the market/ client-specific approach to strengthen the Realytix value proposition through differentiation
  • Develop and maintain deep and thorough understanding of assigned client’s needs and platform capabilities in order to contribute to the platform development. Build strong relationships with client staff that can provide strategic insights on evolving needs and value derived from the Munich Re (MR) relationship
  • Contribute to broker marketing activities and other initiatives to develop new products/services or improve operating effectiveness

Your profile

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant insurance/ reinsurance industry experience with experience in sales and business development preferred.
  • Underwriting experience in either Property, Casualty, Cyber, Aviation or Life Underwriting (treaty or facultative) is preferred to understand concepts for Automated UW prototypes / products
  • Excellent Project Management skills within the insurance or technology domains.
  • Manages Client/ Broker Relationships with an expert understanding and knowledge of programs and processes
  • Manages and/or directs other department resources to support the efforts
  • Strategic thinking, creativity and strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong bias for action and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent networking, communication, decision making and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly ambitious, entrepreneurial, and innovative mindset, curiosity and drive
  • Customer-service and relationship-oriented.
  • Willingness to work with teams distributed across different time zones and continents
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Product Development and/or Sales & Marketing. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Insurance related qualification is preferred
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time

The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s NYC location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $ 182,900 -$ 268,200, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
