Responsibilities:
The Computational Chemist/Cheminformatician takes information related to chemical structures to run, evaluate, and develop models of the relationship between structural features and a biological response. They are expected to have a working knowledge of chemistry, computational programming, machine learning and modeling fundamentals that allows them to evaluate structure-based models and interpret toxicological findings based on established chemistry. The Computational Chemist/Cheminformatician will participate in the gathering and evaluation of data from in vitro, in vivo and in silico test methods. They will be asked to provide scientific expertise on both relevant biology/chemistry and computational/analytical areas. Preparation of scientific and technical documents such as presentations, reports, workshop summaries, manuscripts, and operating procedures are a core component of this position. The Computational Chemist/Cheminformatician will work in a team environment where cooperation and a professional attitude are essential. Other duties will be assigned as needed
Qualifications:
B.S. in bioinformatics/biochemistry/chemistry with at least 3 years post-degree experience in research and/or data analysis.- M.S. in bioinformatics/biochemistry/chemistry or related field with at least 2 years post degree experience in research and/or data analysis.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the development, use, and evaluation of structure-based models (i.e., QSAR) for predicting a biological endpoint is required.
- Strong scripting experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required
- Proficiency in R and/or Python desired
- Familiarity with one of the following is desired:
- Developing or administrating databases in mySQL with chemical/ biological data
- Cheminformatic/computational chemistry analyses
- Machine learning, deep learning
- KNIME
- Familiarity with contract research and regulatory testing requirements desired.
