Volunteer Driver Job at Newaygo County Mental Health
Do you have a few extra hours a week? Newaygo County Mental Health looking for individuals, with dependable vehicles, to provide transportation to individuals within Newaygo County.
For volunteers whose primary assignment is the transportation of consumers to the agency for various appointments, the following shall apply:
- Volunteers will be reimbursed mileage portal-to-portal for consumer transportation at the current IRS rate.
- Vehicles utilized by the volunteer drivers shall have "full" coverage on their vehicles, and drivers shall be required to present proof of same to agency. By full coverage, a minimum of $100,000 liability and $300,000 per occurrence shall be required.
- Volunteer drivers shall be required to maintain current CPR/First Aid certification at all times. The Agency will reimburse the cost to the driver of maintaining this certification. The agency will also offer volunteer drivers the opportunity to attend CPR classes through the Agency. Volunteers shall not be compensate for time spent in CPR/First Aid training, although they may be reimbursed for mileage incurred to completed the training.
- Vehicles used to transport consumers by volunteer drivers shall have no more than 150,000 miles. Vehicles that exceed this mileage must have a certified mechanic safety inspection and approval from the Safety Director to be used for consumer transportation.

- Volunteers who have direct consumer contact (including volunteer drivers) shall complete CPI training on an annual basis. The agency will offer and pay for the cost of the training. Volunteers shall not be compensated for the time spent in any trainings required by the agency.
- Volunteer drivers shall, at their own expense, present a medical clearance annually from a physician that permits them to drive and transport others.
- Volunteer drivers shall be required to provide and carry a cell phone as part of their volunteer assignment. The Agency will not reimburse for this expense.
Must submit to drug testing, criminal background and driving record checks. EOE
