SUMMARY A person in this position functions under the working title of Training Coordinator and is under the direction of the Support Services or Operational Director. A person in this job classification is responsible for the execution of established corporate training curricula which includes both of state mandated training course and customized training as determined appropriate by program leadership. A person in this position may be required to travel to various locations as directed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize, schedule and facilitate training for all new staff members in accordance with approved curriculum. These courses include, but are not limited to:
  • Medication Administration
  • Fire Safety
  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Proper physical mobility mechanics – consumer transfer, lifting and assistance
  • Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
  • Operational Policies/Procedures
  • Program Regulations
  • Service Philosophy
  • Incident Reporting
  • Compiles employee training documentation
  • Assist in the development and updating of staff training curriculum
  • Works closely with recruiting resources and/or onboarding staff to onboard new hires using company resources and procedures
  • Monitors training requirements and coordinates with managerial staff to ensure staff meets company requirement
  • Provides management with feedback regarding staff ability and knowledge to perform assigned duties
  • Attend educational seminars to maintain current training tools and methodology
  • Maintain working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Cross train other team members
  • Completes or assists with completion of onboarding activities including interviewing, completion of pre-employment paperwork, and scheduling of new activities such as physical examinations
OTHER DUTIES
  • Serves as a back-up resource to the recruiting department as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position may in limited cases may functionally supervise other staff member who assist with staff training. The position may serve as a coach and mentor for similar positions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The duties of this job require fine motor skills to write neat, legible notes, read and understand program documentation, and completing keyboarding entry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

TRAVEL
  • This position requires minimal to moderate travel to attend training activities as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least three years of progressive experience in the Intellectual Disability system or six years of direct care experience with at least three years in supervisory capacity.
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office Suite software)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in establishing priorities
  • Independence on projects, ability to complete/follow up tasks without direct supervision.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of habilitation for program clients.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Management Program; planning, normalization principles and practices for the intellectually disabled.
  • Knowledge of physical abilities mechanics to insure employees use proper techniques in assisting consumers with transfer, lifting and mobility.
  • Knowledge of community/training resources available to persons with disabilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • This position requires attainment of certification to complete CPR training and Pennsylvania state approved medication administration training.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Language Skills
Ability to pose questions and judge responses to determine the appropriateness of an applicant for the required job duties. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and instructions. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to clearly explain instructions in both written and oral media.
  • Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematic ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning Ability
Ability to read instructional bulletins and/or participate in training sessions then translate information provided into day-to-day work duties. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive and understanding attitude toward the co-workers and individuals in services.
  • Ability to make sound judgments regarding the health and welfare of the residents.
  • Ability to respond to high emotional intensity or emergency situations appropriately.
