Overview


Under general direction, manage and operate the areas of data communications, voice communications, desktop and server hardware, enterprise storage, corporate data bases, and end user support.

Essential Functions: Provides leadership and manages the daily operations of the Technical Support Division; directs, develops and motivates staff to meet objectives that assist in achieving the District's strategic business plan: responsible for the efficient functioning, security and recoverability of the District's technology infrastructure to include: voice and data networks, servers, storage, operating system software, desktop and peripheral equipment; provides end user support through operation of a help desk function and a data center computing function; performs research and makes recommendations regarding upgrades or new infrastructure technology to improve the District's effectiveness and efficiency and in support of business imperatives; participates in long-range strategic planning as related to the District's technology infrastructure; participates on inter-departmental projects in a primary contact role for technical services requirements; interfaces and negotiates with vendors as required in the technology procurement process; interfaces with business unit managers and other IT personnel to form alliances on projects, make operational decisions, resolve scheduling and requirements conflicts; provides supervision of employees and plans, organizes and directs their activities; manages and administers the operational budget within area of responsibility.

Additional Responsibilities: Assists in preparing and monitoring annual Information Systems budget; maintains records and prepares reports; performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.

Qualifications


Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field AND a minimum of 5 years of IT work experience AND at least three years of management/supervisory experience

OR

10 years of IT work experience AND at least three years of management/supervisory experience.


Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
: Work experience in an IT organization preferably with infrastructure; considerable management and technical knowledge of network and associated protocols, cyber security, data communications, server and storage technology, hybrid cloud infrastructure, as well as desktop, mobile and peripheral hardware; considerable experience in system software installation including deployment tool sets; experience in oversight of computer operations and IT help desk functions is preferred including management through service level agreements considerable skill in the areas of project management, resource management, scheduling, prioritization and anticipation of critical project requirements; considerable skill in management techniques and application; ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.


Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.

Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations
