Job Description

Seeking a system engineer expertise to support the Air Force T-7 training aircraft development program. Knowledge of crew systems is a plus.

The T-7 is the advanced jet trainer currently in development for the US Air Force. HII is hiring a senior systems engineer to review technical documentation from the aircraft contractor, evaluate the proposed system design and any recommended engineering changes, assess and communicate risks to leadership, and assist with the test and evaluation of the related systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and evaluation of end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products
• Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
• Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development
• Assess performance, hazards and risk using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
• Participate in design reviews to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation
• Review test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements
• Evaluate, identify and interpret test success criteria and results and recommend corrective action for any shortcomings
• Effectively interact with others in person and using telework methods
• Effectively communicate status, issues, risks, results, and recommendations through written and verbal communications

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in engineering or similar field
• 10+ years’ experience with systems engineering in the DOD acquisition environment
• SECRET clearance
• US Citizen

Preferred Requirements

• Implement escape system design and airworthiness safety policies, methods, and procedures that are compatible with the aircraft system
• Verify the T-7 escape system is compatible with the aircraft system and all occupants can safely egress from the aircraft and the aid of the aircraft's functions for escape
• Demonstrated experience with ejection type escape and egress systems
