As the Strategic Projects and Outreach Team Supervisor (HSC4) you will support priority capacity for COVID-19, and other high-consequence infectious diseases responses.

You will contribute to the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology’s (OCDE) mission by:
  • Providing supervision of the project management and outreach coordination team and associated body of work.
  • Supporting the implementation of objectives, strategies, and exercises that increase public health and medical response capabilities across the state in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and other high consequence infectious diseases.
  • Support public health emergency preparedness and response activities within the Agency, as necessary.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Act in a leadership role during public health emergencies and/or when a disease of concern has business impact by:
  • Leading workgroups and teams to develop project plans, and timelines needed to serve programs.
  • Compiling and presenting information and recommendations to leadership for decision making purposes.
  • Supervise the Strategic Projects and Outreach Coordination Team within the Training, Operations, Planning, and Program Support Unit.
  • Assist team members in determining and defining project scope in coordination with project owner/subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate with OCDE Leadership Team to prioritize project backlog.
  • Manage budget and funding requests related to the Project Management Program
  • Represent the office in a cross-agency liaison group that is focused on local health engagement, coordination, and outreach process improvement.
  • Serve as an internal consultant for:
  • Development of policies and procedures.
  • System development and implementation.
  • Long-range strategic plan implementation.
  • Formulation of goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage projects:
  • Design workflows and organizational systems.
  • Manage intake, output and backlog for short, mid, and long-term projects.
  • Triage assignments to appropriate team members.

This project position is currently funded through July 31, 2024.

The Strategic Projects and Outreach Team Supervisor (HSC 4) works within the
Training, Operations, Planning, and Program Support Unit. This unit is a part of the Readiness and Response Section in the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology.

The office is a part of the Division of Disease Control and Health Statistics (DCHS).
The mission of this division is to work within the governmental public health system and with other public health and healthcare partners to implement public health programs, take public health actions, develop public health policy, and conduct assessment activities to improve the health of the people of Washington.

Required Qualifications
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities

Option 1:
A Master’s degree with major study in public health, health care administration, public administration, business administration or closely allied field AND one (1) year of progressively responsible experience leading and managing a team of project managers in the public or private sector, preferably in a health services program .

Option 2:
A bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience leading and managing a team of project managers in the public or private sector, preferably in a health services program.

Option 3
: Five (5) years of project management experience with demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of project managers.

Desired Qualifications
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities.

  • Experience working with local health jurisdiction staff.
  • Experience in public health work or health service project management and associated concepts.
  • Strong facilitation, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • 1 year experience working in public health.
