About the Role:

The ideal candidate for Sound Physicians’ GL Staff Accountant role is highly motivated and looking for development opportunities. The role of this individual will likely develop as the accounting team continues to grow in support of the organization. A rounded accounting education base, prior experience in the General Ledger, and strong interpersonal skills are key to success in this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the month-end close process, including internal reporting
  • Prepare journal entries and relevant support
  • Create and update account reconciliations monthly
  • Support implementation and maintenance of process-level internal controls
  • Tracking and accounting for revenue, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, fixed assets, and various liabilities
  • Track and account for certain asset and liability accounts
  • Analyze and understand variances in monthly results compared to prior month and other trends for specific accounts
  • Support regional teams reporting to management
  • Maintain internal controls compliance and work with the Internal Controls Team
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Support the Accounting Team with various projects
  • Serve as backup for Accounting Assistant for check printing and deposits if Tacoma based
  • Assisting in the stand-alone Sound Physicians annual financial statement audit as well as the combined audit of Sound as a subsidiary of FMC
  • Assist various departments in accounting issues and queries
  • Other duties as assigned

Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training, or Special Licenses/Certifications Needed:

  • Understand basic financial statements and how they interact with each other
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of organization and departments
  • Proficient in MS Office Products
  • Experience in Sage Intacct is a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, Business Administration, or related field
  • Preferred: 3 years of accounting experience preferably in a healthcare work environment.

Other details:

  • Indoor office environment
  • Sitting at desk working on computer for extended periods of time
  • Working on computer for up to eight hours (with breaks), with additional time required for month-end close and year-end audit work
  • Occasional work requirements on weekends or beyond normal daytime work hours associated with month-end closings (once monthly)
  • Moving/lifting file boxes (up to 25 lbs.)

Pay Range: $60,000 -$71,000. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience and geographical location.
