Operate and tend the Zinc and Aluminum based Rotary furnace to melt and refine metal ensuring that the Rotary furnace is operating properly. Operate the Rotary furnace without instruction – know and understand the order of materials to run and how to manage unusual situations that occur.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

• Calculate specific material, equipment, or labor requirements for Rotary production.
• Collect samples of materials or products for testing to ensure that materials meet specifications.
• Load materials into production equipment.
• Drain, transfer, or remove molten metal from furnaces, and place it into molds, using hoists, pumps, troughs, or ladles.
• Record operational and/or production data and maintain production data in Sage system.
• Operate controls to move or discharge metal workpieces from furnaces.
• Watch operating equipment to detect malfunctions.
• Weigh materials to be charged into furnaces, using scales.
• Measure ingredients or substances to be used in production processes.
• Monitor instruments to ensure proper production conditions.
• Adjust equipment controls to regulate fuel flow.
• Adjust temperature controls of heating equipment.
• Remove impurities from the surface of molten metal.
• Skim impurities from molten metal.
• Signal others to coordinate work activities.

Shifts Available:*

• 7A-7P Sunday-Tuesday every other Wednesday
• 7P-7A Sunday-Tuesday every other Wednesday
• 7A-7P Thursday-Saturday every other Wednesday
• 7P-7A Thursday-Saturday every other Wednesday

This position will work a rotating swing shift (12 hours per day, four days in a row, then three days off one week: 12 hours per day, three days in a row, then four days off the next week). This means a significant amount of time off per year equaling 180 days off a year.
All orientation is conducted at our HR location in Canonsburg, PA. Training will begin on your next scheduled shift.

Pay Shift Differentials:*

• Sunday-Thursday night shift: +$1.50 added to base rate
• Saturday-Sunday 7am day shift: +$1.00 added to base rate
• Friday-Saturday night shift: +$3.00 added to base rate

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on a Rotary Furnace
• Required to lead by example in living the Ritchey Metals’ Core Values.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task with few errors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS*
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; elevated noise levels and vibration. Employee must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.
