• The incumbent will be developing and supporting backend database functionality where a significant portion of application business logic is implemented in the underlying PostgreSQL platform. These applications include front end customer service portals as well as numerous inbound and outbound data feeds.
• Deliverables will include tables and long & complex stored procedures, functions, views, and reports, with a premium on performance, accuracy, data integrity, and maintainability.

Essential Functions:

• 40% Delivers SQL / DDL high quality software assets to implement new features / stories related to data retrieval, manipulation, exchanges underlying healthcare insurance platforms.
• Follows standard software development methodologies and Agile practices in a highly collaborative team environment to produce high quality applications in an efficient manner.
• Manages multiple project deliverables concurrently, communicate effectively with broad stakeholder communities, and maintain positive working relationship with teammates and customers. Accountable for completion dates.
• 25% Triages and troubleshoots critical production issues, identifying root cause and coding fixes quickly as necessary, with same attention to quality support production releases.
• 10% Participates and contributes to the full project life cycle, including elaborating requirements, sizing / estimation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support of applications
• relying on extensive Postgres platform with numerous inbound and outbound data feeds.
• 10% Assesses and proposes redesign of existing coded SQL / DDL assets for better maintainability and extensibility.
• 10% Documents database structural design and data flows, for both pre-existing (reverse engineering) and new deliverables."

"Required skills / knowledge:

• Strong understanding of modeling principles and performance trade offs of relational, transactional databases
• Conceptual knowledge of database normalization
• Grasp of database strategies for optimized performance of coded stored procedures, functions, and functions, as well as underlying tuning opportunities in the database itself
• GIT – source control, pull request, and release management
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
• PostgreSQL commands / operations
• Working familiarity with AWS RDS, DynamoDB, S3 services
