The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The team is dedicated to improving quality, while increasing productivity, cost effectiveness, and safety in the Design/Technical, Operations, and Business Support Services communities. The team’s goal is to positively advance the NNL Horizon Planning efforts. The person selected for this position will assist and/or lead in a variety of project management, strategic thinking, business operations areas, and play a key role in enhancing the computer business infrastructure for Quality, Performance and Improvement (QPI) Department. This role will have plenty of opportunities to work across teams and various levels of management.
Key focus areas will be, but not limited to the following:
- Developer/administer of the CIS integrated schedule and various project plans, while utilizing effective risk management strategies.
- Development of business plan deliverables that could assist in meeting NNL, QPI, and CIS strategic goals.
- Prepare and maintain project reports including the development of effective metrics that assist in running operations.
- Lead for CIS up-front-planning controls, change control requests, and coordinating periodic performance assessments.
- Prepare and analyze budget, cost, and labor estimates and actual costs for assigned projects.
- Coordinate and facilitate project meetings.
- Opportunities to be involved in the NNL Continuous Improvement and Change Management community.
- Active participation and leadership in assisting NNL with achieving the company goals (i.e., Horizon Planning).
- Active team member of the NNL Continuous Improvement Lead Team.
- Lead for developing and enhancing information infrastructure (i.e., SharePoint, webpages, metrics automation).

- Proficient in utilizing MS Project as an effective scheduling tool.
- Proficient in utilizing MS Excel and Power BI.
- Demonstrated ability in evaluating project performance and creating effective performance metrics.
- Demonstrated ability in developing, integrating, and maintaining SharePoint sites and webpages.
- Change Management Partitioner trained with demonstrated abilities in integrating the appropriate steps to achieve desired results.
- Strong interpersonal skills (i.e., effectively communicate and team across organizations).
- Strong organizations skills with demonstrated ability in managing multiple concurrent initiatives with a high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to think beyond current systems and requirements (i.e., innovative and creative).
- Self-motivated with a positive team player attitude.
