The Safety Team is looking for a Safety Specialist to help serve our Fleet and Facilities Teams and support our office employees. You will be trusted to:

  • Develops competence through structured work assignments and guidance from supervisor, manager, and/or more experienced colleagues
  • Leverage telematics data and insights to analyze potential causes of accidents, driver behavior and near misses
  • Perform incident investigations, including documentation, tracking, and reporting
  • Works with Safety Services leadership group to oversee fleet safety systems, policies, and routines which continuously assess risk, set goals, drive accountability, implement best practices, and monitor/improve fleet safety performance
  • Remain current and up to date on all DOT regulations and oversee all aspects of compliance efforts
  • Anticipate and identify health and safety hazards in fleet and maintenance facility workplaces throughout LCRA
  • Schedule, assist and conduct safety orientation, training, and monthly/quarterly safety meetings to LCRA customers
  • Participates in the research, development and implementation of safety policies and procedures
  • Perform work by traveling independently or with other staff to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as scheduled
  • Perform field hazard assessments and behavior-based safety observations
  • Provides safety consultation and serves as a safety resource for LCRA staff


You qualify with:

  • Six or more years of experience in administration of industrial safety and/or health programs, utility industry (mechanical and/or electrical), safety training or compliance including providing guidance, leadership or formal/informal instruction to staff. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, health and safety, education or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

  • CDS, ASP, CSP, GSP, SMS, OHST, CSM, or CSHO preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of regulatory reporting and recordkeeping (OSHA, ANSI, EPA, etc.)
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication, including effectively communicating information to large audiences
  • Skilled in office productivity applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc..)
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems; Intelex preferred
  • Skilled in incident investigations and knowledgeable of incident investigation methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of work environment safety hazards and materials and tools used in assigned areas
  • Ability to set priorities, complete tasks, work independently and proactively and collaboratively in a cross-functional team
