CM&W is looking for a Safety Specialist at our Hannibal, MO location. The Safety Specialist will maintain a positive safety culture while ensuring company compliance with all company, federal, and state health, safety, and environmental agencies.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with plant and company leadership to spearhead safety initiatives and improvements.
• Conduct safety observation and hazard assessments.
• Conduct or participate in plant safety inspections/audits, both internal and OSHA.
• Conduct near miss and incident/accident investigations.
• Participate in/lead Safety Committee meetings.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects
• Observe employees and contractors to assist in accident prevention and elimination of at-risk behaviors.
• Assist in new hire safety orientation, company safety trainings, and toolbox talks.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Recommend and define safety standards for new machinery, equipment, and work processes.
• Perform all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, safety standards and company policies.

What You’ll Need:

• Safety First attitude and mindset.
• Minimum 3 years’ safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Completion of OSHA 30.
• Willingness to work hands-on with machinery.
• Willingness to administer first aid.
• Ability to work in a team environment to set safety standards.
• Willingness to learn.
• Strong written and verbal communication ability.
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

What Helps:

• ASP certification preferred.
• Project management skills preferred.
• Understanding of workplace ergonomics preferred
• Relevant certifications preferred.
