Safety Director Job at Integrated Water Services, Inc.
High growth water and wastewater design/build construction firm is actively seeking an experienced Safety Director. The Safety Director will be responsible for the overall management, implementation, and execution of the Company Safety Program. Including partnering with site supervision to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local, regional, and national regulations. The Safety Director will demonstrate their ability to build trust and confidence with field supervision and company management. They will inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The Safety Director must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. They will instruct and train workers on safety policies and our safety standards. They will communicate safety team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to operation teams and ensure they are executing the core competencies of a safety professional.
Essential Duties and Function:
- Oversee safety program and coordinate consistent application of the safety policies and program in several states in West and Southwest through a consulting role to management.
- Develop, conduct, track, report and/or manage all safety training for employees, including but not limited to:
Safety Policy and Procedures Lock Out / Tag Out
Supervisory Training OSHA 10-Hour Training
- Policy Manual Training -New Regulation Training
- Medical Response Training -Supervisor Safety Training
- Develop and manage effective system for controlling the Safety Manual, including but not limited to:
- Updating policies on a timely basis as laws, rules and conditions dictate.
- Assuring that all manuals are controlled through an assignment system that provides for accurate updating and retrieval and reassignment as projects close and open.
- Making all collateral information accessible to manual holders, i.e. supplemental fall protection information.
- Identify workplace safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
- Produce quality work, meeting requirements of company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Daily, set exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of the company’s resources; support company philosophy, practice, and goals; function as a team player; help to maintain good communication.
- Provide professional management of the entire safety program with emphasis upon long-range, comprehensive planning and implementation.
- Develop and review, with recommendations to Senior Leadership team, policies, procedures, and programs that will reduce or eliminate accidents and injuries and prevent issuance of regulatory citations.
- Serve as chairman of Corporate Safety Committee, assuring that meeting agendas are complete and that meetings are conducted in an efficient manner.
- Serve as Chairman of the Safety Task Force, determine meeting agenda and coordinate twice yearly meetings.
- Oversee and/or participate with the appropriate location personnel in the investigation of all serious accidents.
- Assure maximum communication between all appropriate levels within the companies of safety related information, including innovative methods and changes in laws/rules/regulations through effective use of bulletins, newsletters, memos, and other methods.
- Maintain an effective working relationship on behalf of the company with OSHA, EPA and other federal and state regulatory agencies.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management or a related field or equivalent, and/or certification as a Safety Professional (CSP)
- 7-10 years of experience in safety management with progressive responsibilities for safety management from site supervision through the corporate level.
- 5+ years of experience working in a construction company
- Prefer training certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Demonstrated management leadership abilities are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience developing and managing EHS policies and procedures
