This is a remote-hybrid position. You will be only be on site at our Salem Headquarters approximately once per week or for projects and meetings.

About the Team

The Risk and Claims Specialist will report to the Manager of Administrative Support and will join the Retail Contracts team. You will also work with retailers, DAS Risk Management, insurance companies, and individuals involved in claims investigations.

About the Role

The Risk and Claim specialist will be the primary contact to prepare and process risk management claims while delivering exceptional customer service to all parties involved. You will prepare and send determination letters and other communications regarding claim decisions. You will also monitor OLCC license renewals for Video Lottery retailers to ensure compliance, and initiates compliance action if necessary.

You Will:

  • Apply Lottery Management Core Values and Expectations in performing daily activities. Ensure conduct embodies the principles of fairness, integrity, security, and honesty. Support and integrate into their work the Lottery's commitment to: Responsible Gambling, DEIB, and a Culture of Safety
  • Organize, coordinates and compiles information for risk management claims.
  • Track damaged equipment and ensures collection and destruction occurs to protect the FISH.
  • Analyze and reviews information submitted for accuracy and completeness.
  • Determine whether to charge others based on the OAR and other procedures.
  • Prepare, submits, tracks, and ensures the Lottery receives payment from claims.
  • Be a liaison between headquarters and staff to help gather information to allow proper filing of claims and legal documents.
  • Organize and track prices for replacement video parts.
  • Work in partnership with the Lottery public records team as a liaison to attorneys, DAS Risk Management, insurance companies, and individuals investigating any incidents involving claims.
  • Requests Police and Fire Marshal reports for claims.
  • Respond to requests from police, court, and District Attorney's Office regarding restitution.
  • Ensure incidents are tracked.
  • Prepare and send determination and accessibility letters.
  • Compile information into reports to support findings when risks are discovered, and present reports.
  • Monitor OLCC license renewals for Video Lottery Retailers to ensure compliance, and initiates compliance action if necessary.

You Have:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of experience processing claims forms and representing an organization with external parties; OR
  • Five (5) years of experience processing claims forms and representing an organization with external parties.
