Recreation Specialist - Athletics Job at City of Wilmington, NC
Assist with Athletics program delivery & facility operations primarily at the MLK Center and Davis Center at Maides Park by implementing athletics programs and activities, monitoring athletic facilities, and performing a variety of administrative duties.
This is a part-time, benefits eligible 29 hour/week position. Hours will vary and the selected candidate must be able to work late evenings and weekends.
Assists with developing and implementing athletic programs and activities by creating programs and activities, submitting program proposals and evaluations, and set up and break down athletic program equipment. Monitors athletic leagues and provides athletic program instruction. Performs administrative duties by scheduling activities, answering phones, greeting patrons, use Rec Trac to register patrons for activities and for reservation of facilities, assist with special events, prepare reports, and maintain communication with other agencies and departments. Significant evening and weekend work.
Experience: Minimum one (1) year of related experience in customer service, recreational programming or related field.
Notes: Selected candidate will be required to complete a post-offer drug screen. Selected candidate will also be required to complete a driving and criminal history check.
Varied athletics coaching, officiating, and playing experience preferred.
Health Benefits are offered to employees working at least 30 hours per week.
Health Insurance - The City offers two options for health coverage: a standard PPO plan and a High Deductible Health Plan with an associated Health Savings Account. Coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Both you and the City contribute to the overall cost of coverage.
Dental Insurance - Coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees, their spouse and dependent children are eligible for coverage.
Life Insurance - The city pays to provide coverage valued at one times your annual salary. Supplemental insurance is available for employees to purchase. Optional coverage for dependents is also available for purchase.
Retirement:
- NC Local Government Retirement System - All benefits eligible employees make a mandatory 6% contribution every pay period.
- Deferred Compensation – The city contributes an amount equal to 4.5% of the annual salary to either the 401(k) or 457 plans regardless of employee contribution. Employees may choose to contribute additional money to the deferred compensation plans, without a match from the City, within the IRS guidelines.
- Sick Leave - 12 days accrued each year
- Holidays - 12 paid holidays annually
- Paid Parental Leave - Six weeks of paid leave for the birth, adoption or placement of a child (must run concurrently with FMLA).
- Part-Time Employees will earn paid leave benefits on a pro-rated basis.
