SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Program Manager of the laboratory and point of care testing at all EPH related facilities. Responsible for successfully managing, planning, organizing, and reviewing Quality Control functions of the Laboratory department point of care testing at all EPH related facilities. Responsible for assisting with the development and modifications of operations with the Laboratory Director for the betterment of the Laboratory service to the Estes Valley Community. Plans, develops, and coordinates activities and flow of work for an assigned function or area in the Laboratory. Accountable for demonstrating a commitment to the values of EPH through active participation in Service Excellence and Continuous Quality Improvement/Education programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Operates as a working technician or phlebotomist to help staffing when there are shortages
- Ensures laboratory operations and staff compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ensures Point of Care Quality management and oversight for EPH related facilities clinics and services
- Provides orientation, training and guidance to staff to ensure work is carried out in a safe and friendly manner
- Serves as a resource to staff regarding departmental/area policies, procedures and services. Available for consulting concerning test results and the interpretation of those results as they relate to specific patient conditions.
- Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects to ensure timely completion. Delegates and assigns work commensurate with knowledge, skill and experience, ensures work is performed appropriately
- Ensures Proper QC and QI is done to meet regulatory accreditation standards in the laboratory and all EPH related facilities, clinics and services. Ensures testing systems in the laboratory provide quality services in all aspects of test performance, preanalytical, analytic and post analytic phases of testing. Ensuring testing is appropriate for patient population.
- Responsible for all CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory governance (DNV, Joint Commission, etc.) activities as directed by hospital leadership. Including ensuring remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- Monitors and evaluates all new testing methods and instrumentation before accepting as laboratory procedure to provide quality patient testing. Ensures adequate method verification in order to determine the accuracy and precision of testing methods.
- Coordinates with Laboratory Director to ensure safety, quality management, and service excellence is provided. Participates in EPH committees associated with safety and quality
- Collaborate with EPH Quality/Patient safety department, monitoring process improvement and standard work congruent with the overall quality management plan.
- Responsible for Quality planning, organizing, and directing Laboratory services for all EPH laboratory functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned and or delegate by the Laboratory Director
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Excellent writing skills, with a high level of attention to detail required
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a strong knowledge of Laboratory Service Management as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology.
- MT (ASCP) Registered
- A minimum of five (5) years directly related medical laboratory experience
- 2 year related experience in laboratory quality preferred
- Bachelors degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist program (AMT or ASCP)
- Excellent writing skills, with a high level of attention to detail required
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles
- High school diploma or equivalent required
PAY RANGE:
$37.46 - $50.95 per hour
