SUMMARY:

In this role at Flavor Insights, the Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing daily quality control activities including ATP Swabbing, environmental sampling, approval of raw and finished good materials. QA Technician will assist Quality Team for maintaining food safety, quality and regulatory programs.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Enforce quality standards on raw materials and finished goods through inspections and analysis

2. Execute inbound verification testing as well as monitor material outbound release

3. Examine/maintain retention samples

4. Prepare and perform sensory evaluations

5. Conduct Pre-operation inspections for production lines

6. Prepare and submit laboratory samples

7. Assist with internal QA audits and all CAPA measures

8. Perform ATP swabs, allergen verification and environmental swabs

9. Ensure QC lab is clean, organized, and equipment is calibrated

10. Ensure products are received, manufactured, and packaged in a safe, quality manner to meet quality and food safety specifications

11. Review supplier documentation such as Letters of Guarantee, Letters of Conformance, Certificate of Analysis, third party audits among others to ensure in compliance and current

12. Work closely with the sanitation department to ensure the effectiveness of the documented, implemented sanitation program

13. Comply and participate with company’s GMP’s and Food Safety Programs

14. Assist with maintaining records for HACCP, SQF, and FSMA

15. Act in a support role to the Quality Control Manager

16. Miscellaneous projects as assigned

17. Report food safety and quality concerns to Quality Assurance Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional manufacturing environment. In this role the Quality Assurance Technician is expected to spend considerable amount of time in the production facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to remain long periods of time standing. Some lifting is required to carry product samples and relevant documentation. Must be able to spend periods of time in front of a computer terminal.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree in food-science or related field

2. 2 years practical experience in food safety or quality assurance

3. HACCP Certified

4. Knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 110 and FSMA regulations

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5. 2 years of college education preferably in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry

6. HACCP certification

7. Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) knowledge
