Summary
Dwellness In-Home Psychological Services is seeking a motivated, diligent, and self-starting, postdoctoral psychologist (the “Dwellness Fellow”) to join our growing clinical team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills and experience. Candidates will support clients with a variety of psychological and psychosocial challenges, including executive functioning impairments, and must have an interest in learning the nuances of home-based and innovative in-person service.
The Dwellness Fellow will conduct initial consultations (with prospective clients), psychological assessments, and ongoing psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, and families using a variety of treatment modalities. The Dwellness Fellow will also hold a leadership position in the company’s advanced clinical training program where they will provide direct supervision to students completing an internship/externship required for their master’s or doctoral degree. The Dwellness Fellow will have access to ongoing didactics and engage with group and individual professional development opportunities, including creating and leading a training session once per term for the Dwellness clinical team.
The fellowship is open to graduates from APA-accredited doctoral programs in clinical, counseling, or school psychology and will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. We require a two-year commitment for this opportunity. The position is part-time with opportunity for growth; see details below.
Patient Population and Treatment Modalities
Many of the clients that Dwellness serves are confronting mental health and learning challenges that impede their emotional and academic development. We often treat ADHD, learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), language processing disorders, school refusal, externalizing behaviors, depression, anxiety, OCD, familial discord, general academic distress, and general relational issues. Fellows will have the opportunity to learn and apply evidence-based approaches, such as psychodynamic approaches, mentalization, CBT, DBT, ACT, executive functioning interventions, emotion-focused therapies, trauma-informed therapies, and family systems approaches.
Qualifications
- PhD or PsyD degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or by six weeks prior to the start of the fellowship. In our experience, six weeks is the standard length of processing time for Limited Permit applications by the NYS Office of the Professions.
- Successful completion of internship
- Flexibility with availability for client sessions: After school/evening hours is the most highly requested time frame from clients. Weekend availability for client sessions is a plus.
- Availability and willingness to travel to different locations in NYC to conduct sessions, including different boroughs
- Completion of coursework/training in multicultural counseling preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload of seven client session hours/week equivalent (averaged over a one-month period). You will conduct most of these sessions in-person at the client’s home or in the community.
- Conduct initial consultations, psychological assessments, and complete required clinical documentation (diagnosis/treatment plans, progress notes, etc.)
- Bill clients and prepare superbills through the company’s electronic health records platform
- Serve as Training Coordinator for Dwellness’ Advanced Clinical Training Program and provide direct supervision to three to five trainees
- Participate in two hours/week of individual supervision including one hour for clinical cases and one hour for the Training Coordinator role
- Participate in one hour per week of group supervision
- Participate in individual and group professional development training sessions and in-person, peer-led workshops
- Develop and lead training experience for clinical team 1x/term
Compensation and Benefits
- Part-time salary: $37,335/year
- Option to increase caseload beyond requirements of part-time role with supplemental compensation per session
