Production Supervisor Job at Burnett Dairy Cooperative
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor supports the company’s production of products within prescribed specifications, using efficient machine operation. The Supervisor develops the makeroom and packaging teams through trainings, coaching, documenting coaching activities and the review process. The Supervisor supports the Production Manager in implementing company policies and programs. The Production Supervisor is the backup for the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and directs staff on day-to-day work activities
- Ensures staff accurately performs duties, testing of cheese throughout process, basing decisions on lab results
- Communicates with the cheesemaker to ensure vat integrity
- Inspects product for non-conformities and reports any deviations to the Production Manager
- Proactively utilize processes to prevent problems that could affect product quality and safety
- Verifies all documentation for production activity is complete on all necessary forms
- Troubleshoots equipment making adjustments as needed, informing Management of issues and machine malfunctions
- Ensures product identity is maintained for tracking purposes
- Inspects product to meet quality standards; visually, seal integrity, label and inkjet integrity
- Ensure product is sleeved, boxed, labeled and palletized to customer specifications
- Conducts root cause analysis and aids in the identification of root cause, corrective actions and preventative actions
- Reports any significant deviations or non-conformities from quality standards and suggests appropriate corrective action to the Production Manager and Production Planner
- Documents production activity on all necessary forms and ensures his team does the same
- Informs Production Manager of plant issues, including machine malfunctions
- Implements verification during start-up, new equipment implementation, and new product introductions to prevent problems resulting from inadequate production procedures
- Carries out follow-up on all production processes to detect and eliminate sources of contamination.
Education/Experience (Preferred):
- Pasteurizer Certified
- Licensed Cheesemaker
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent
- Computer abilities; Word, Excel, Outlook
- Two years of food industry experience in operations and production
- Two years of supervisory or managerial experience
- Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills
- Knowledge of OSHA, FDA, USDA, SQF and HACCP.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lift/carry up to 30 - 60 pounds
- Occasionally required to reach and lift above shoulders
- Occasionally required to push/pull carts; full and empty
- Occasionally reach and lift while bending forward
- Occasionally required to shovel at waist level
- Must be able to stand, climb, walk and use fine motor coordination throughout the entire shift
Availability
- The Production Supervisor works days; on call and occasional weekends and holidays as work load demands
- Weekly work hours may exceed forty, with supervisor pre-approval
- Regular and dependable attendance is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
