General Purpose:

The Maintenance Technician supports factory needs regarding all equipment to achieve plan and improve on process efficiency and performance. In addition, the Maintenance Technician supports and actively manages the troubleshooting and preventative maintenance program to maximize equipment availability, reduce unplanned stoppages, and reduce energy, air and water usage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance and repairs of facilities and equipment utilizing a variety of tools and training
  • Perform maintenance tasks to include – repairing and improving from minor rebuilds to major overhauls on all equipment
  • Identify processing waste reduction opportunities and assist in reduction projects
  • Participate in preventative maintenance program to help reduce costs of operations through PM optimization
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs and tests electrical, electronic and mechanical components to determine component-level failure (RCA)
  • Communicate, coach and train employees to continuously improve team’s ability to respond to equipment failures and loss of production
  • Maintains preventative maintenance logs and accurate records of all testing and repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance task to identify all potential mechanical and electrical issues with equipment throughout the factory.
  • Rebuild worn-out, but rebuildable pieces of equipment for scheduled PMs
  • Troubleshoot / investigate and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and utility systems
  • Eliminates problems from recurring utilizing the RCA process
  • Communicates directly with equipment suppliers, contractors, and vendors as necessary
  • Adherence to all safety and GMP policies.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance work orders through the CMMS
  • Responding to plant maintenance calls
  • Assist maintenance team with identifying materials required for equipment repairs/upgrades.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Rotating “On Call” for emergency and weekend coverage
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two or more years proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience painting and operating cleaning equipment such as pressure washers & sweepers

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Safe operation of vehicles and basic equipment
  • Basic manual dexterity and knowledge to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Capable of operating basic hand/power/vibrating tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with all employees
  • Must have electrical knowledge of single and three phase power including the ability to diagnose and replace electric motors
  • Must be proficient with mechanical drawings and OEM technical prints for parts identification
  • Ability to solve problems and develop work plans to maximize safety and efficiency
  • Ability to be self-directed, work safely, and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly
  • Ability to work independently and on call without additional support
  • Basic manual dexterity and knowledge to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Working at heights and/or in confined spaces (10-15%)
  • Ability to stand, sit and record information for extending periods of time (60-75%)
  • Ability to repetitive tasks and inventory control (25-45%)
  • Ability to work to maintain and support ongoing projects and deadlines with

the maintenance manager (15-30%)

  • Knowledge of bottling equipment, PM programs and CMMS preferred
  • Proficient computer navigation skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to occasionally lift 25-75 pounds 1-2 times
  • Ability to lift from floor to waist 55 lbs. 10 times
  • Lift from overhead to floor 40 lbs. 10 times
  • Demonstrate the ability to reach forward or overhead with or without weight (10lbs)
  • Ability to grasp, handle, twist, push, pull and type
  • Demonstrate repetitive bending to load materials to overhead locations
  • Demonstrated balance to work from a ladder or elevated position
  • Demonstrate the ability to squat, kneel or twist and bend body
  • Demonstrate the ability to crawl and climb
  • Tolerate cold/damp environments 35-40 F and outside weather conditions during various seasons
  • Maintain physical conditioning sufficient to accomplish this level of work demand
  • 20/40 vision (corrected if required)
  • Ability to perform simple mathematics to assist with measurement computations
