The Opportunity

The Practice Leader position is an opportunity to work directly with clients and the internal team to deliver projects in the Municipal market. You will oversee the Project Managers that deliver the work and collaborate with the Client Service Manager to secure new project opportunities. You are responsible for developing a team that can effectively and profitably sell and deliver our services to clients.

The Practice Leader has billable goals and is expected to make individual contributions to building client relationships, performing business development, managing projects, and providing technical expertise. This is a tremendous opportunity for the right person to help continue the expansion of our Municipal practice area.

Work Location: Hybrid, in-office as needed

Qualified candidate will:

• Lead operations and growth initiatives
• Mentor Project Managers
• Responsible for the office finances (budget, net income goal, capital expenditure plan)
• Work with the Division Director and Client Service Manager to prepare one- and three-year business plans
  • Implement the annual plan and achieve annual goals
  • Develop and continuously improve systems and processes for operating the practice and delivering services within the practice
• Prepare the annual budget
• Represent Sambatek at meetings with cities, clients, and external project team members
• Lead the hiring effort with our Human Resources team (attract, hire, and retain employees)
• Provide day-to-day guidance to project team staff - including performance reviews and development plans

Qualifications

• Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• Driven to exceed expectations and win over clients
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer License in Minnesota
• 10+ years of consulting experience in municipal
• Effective written/verbal communication and independent judgment
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to change focus quickly during a typical day
• Positive and solution-oriented approach to problems

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work is primarily performed in an office environment
• Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
