Basic Function: The Physician's Assistant serves as the primary care provider for patients across the age and gender spectrum, offering a wide range of healthcare services that place a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention while also providing high-quality chronic disease management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide and manage direct patient care including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment
• Triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care
• Order diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests and interpret test results
• Perform minor outpatient surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate
• Instruct and counsel patients regarding adherence to prescribed therapeutic regimens, with an emphasis on preventative care and disease management
• Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care, and additional information
• Complete clinical documentation of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues through patient encounter in EMR system that is accurate, high quality, and completed in a timely manner
• Participate in clinical meetings and compliance trainings
• Provider will occasionally need to obtain samples for diagnostic/screening tests and/or use equipment such as a nebulizer, EKG machine, etc
• Collaborate with the supervising physician and other members of health care team
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physician
• Participate in required CME courses and perform CME credits to maintain license
• Other duties as required

Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience with electronic medical records and proficiency with various computer based applications
• Ability to prioritize work and manage time, as well as to make balanced and objective decisions with the highest degree of integrity
• Highly motivated, self-directed professional with strong organizational skills and comfort working independently on a daily basis
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously deal with patients, families, and co-workers
• Multi-lingual preferred (Spanish, English, Arabic)

Education:

• Master's Degree in Health Sciences, or other related degree

• Training as a Physician Assistant
• Must be board certified and have an active, unrestricted, Illinois license to practice
• 3 years of clinical experience preferred
• Current BLS certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work for extended hours with a computer.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Ability to respond resolve conflict
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
