"I am looking to hire an energetic and caring person to be my support counselor."

This position is funded by the state of Maryland’s Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) through the Self-Directed Waiver Program to support an adult client with developmental delay.

Job Description:

• Assists in planning fun activities (Ocean City, Utz Factory, Hershey Park, Six Flags, Kings Dominion, Ski Trips, Jet Skiing, etc.)
• Provides instructions in particular areas (diet planning, exercising, scheduling, etc.)
• Records daily notes via log book
• Attends all group staff meetings
• Drives client to and from his desired destinations (mileage reimbursement offered in separate direct deposit)
• Helps the client with volunteer work in the community (food drives, Toys for Tots, soup kitchens, etc. (Volunteer hours offered in separte direct deposit(
• Assists in planning activities in the community (tie-dying shirts, bowling, movies, dining out, etc.)
• Helps individual achieve personal support goals as stated in their annual person-centered plan

Qualifications:

• Some college courses preferred in Health and Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or Counseling
• Some experience preferred but not required working with individuals with disability
• Must have a vehicle, valid US driver’s license, and a good driving record
• Must be CPR and first aid certified (if not, on-the-job training and reimbursement is available)
• Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check
