APS is seeking a Patient Support Specialist for our center in Newport Beach. Qualified candidates who possess experience in the Medical field or an interest in learning about Ambulatory Surgery Centers will be strongly considered.

Position Summary

Responsible for assisting, and performing, as assigned, administration duties within OC Alliance Surgery Center to support client treatment and scheduling processes by working closely with the Operations team. Success in this role requires a candidate to be a meticulous individual with a positive attitude, excellent patient satisfaction skills, and product/service knowledge. The individual must also be an enthusiastic, devoted team player who can take initiative in assigned projects and is able to thrive in a medical setting.

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to the facility by performing business office functions as assigned. These functions are to include (but not limited to): Medical Records, Credentialing, Front Office, Admissions/Intake, Insurance Verification, Clinical Logs and other duties as assigned.
  • Facilitate recommended patient procedure scheduling by processing necessary forms/packets, obtaining insurance reimbursement information and verifying pre-authorizations.
  • Update submission sheet daily, enter new data and status updates.
  • Upload medical records to the EMR system timely, and track patients status continually
  • Review medical records and request missing info from referring physicians surgery center staff
  • Check-In and out patients on procedures days
  • Assist billing manager with personal injury bills
  • Work as part of a diverse team and provide other administrative support as appropriate.
  • Answering phone calls and assisting the caller as necessary

Position Requirements

  • At least 1-year of experience as an admin assistant/scheduler or relevant role in a medical setting required.
  • Knowledge of medical office policies and procedures preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage and maximize multiple surgery schedules with optimum efficiency.
  • Computer proficient with MS Office suite of products, spreadsheets and other scheduling software.
  • Ability to provide excellent patient customer service, while being efficient and productive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Surgery Scheduling: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Medical Office: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree/Medical school program
