JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PASTOR (Full Time)
ROSSVILLE CHURCH

Rossville, TN 38066
RESPONSIBILITIES OF PASTOR:
1. Adhere to the bylaws of the church.
2. Preach the word of God without wavering from the scripture.
3. Support our church's history of being deeply rooted in Wesleyan Doctrine and
Theology.
4. Lead and plan worship with both in-house and social media in mind.
5. Engage people in study and witness.
6. Lead people in discipleship and evangelism so that people may come to know Christ.
7. Counsel people with personal or spiritual struggles.
8. Perform the ecclesial acts of marriage (in keeping with bylaws of the church) and burial.
9. Visit in the homes of the church and community, especially among the sick, aged and others in need.
10. Maintain all confidences except in cases of child abuse or neglect or in cases where mandatory reporting is required by civil law.
11. Administer the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
12. Be the administrative officer of the church and to assure that the organizational concerns of the congregation are adequately provided for through the work of committees and in keeping with bylaws of the church.
13. Provide oversight of staff in cooperation with Staff Parish Committee.
14. Provide leadership for the funding ministry of the church, i.e. stewardship.
15. Model and promote faithful financial stewardship.
16. Be visible in the community and promote the church to the community.
17. Maintain regular office hours and availability to the congregation.
18. Must live in local area.
EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Appropriate ministerial education and/or training

COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with experience
We are currently a United Methodist Church in the process of disaffiliation, therefore this position is subject to the final disaffiliation process.
