Overview:
Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is seeking an Outreach Associate to support its new Healthy Communities Initiative. The associate will assist in coordinating BPL’s health programs, outreach and community partnerships. This person will develop and maintain partner relationships and collaborate with multiple library departments.
This is a part-time, grant funded position, through April 30, 2023. The salary for this position is $23-25/hour. Responsibilities:
Outreach Services at Brooklyn Public Library develops innovative programs and partnerships to increase access to library resources. The department supports responsive services to immigrant communities, older adults, people experiencing homelessness, families impacted by incarceration and veterans.

- Assist Community Health Coordinator in initiative focus areas: Mental Health and Wellness, Reproductive and Caregiver Health, Consumer Health Information, Food and Nutrition, and Positive Aging
- Coordinate between Outreach Services Department and other library departments
- Establish and maintain relationships with community health partners
- Collaborate with BPL librarians to develop and implement health programming
- Support grants and funding requirements
- Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the library to partner organizations
- Contribute to a culture of health and health equity work at BPL
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA degree is required
- An interest in public service staff development
- Ability to collaborate with multiple project stakeholders
- Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current graduate students or those with/pursuing degrees in library and information science preferred
- A passion for health and libraries
- An understanding of health-related programming in an urban public library setting
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Ability to travel and telecommute
