Ready to join in? We are seeking a full-time Medical Secretary who is bilinigual in Spanish. This role will provide administrative support to a nationally ranked orthopedic surgeon. The candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized, have good communication skills along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will be based at the Orthopedic Building near downtown, Chicago, IL with travel to surrounding clinics. This is a Monday through Friday employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, internal departments, hospitals, and other organizations.
- Prepares the charts for clinic day.
- Interface with surgery scheduler as needed.
- Completes correspondence including faxing, mailing, work comp reports, draft letters, and maintenance of medical appointment schedules for the practice.
- Responsible for assisting to organize any meetings, private records reviews, and depositions for assigned physician.
- Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; receiving/announcing scheduled attorneys, salespeople and/or visitors. Screen potential patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, etc.
- Organize and maintain the practice calendar.
- Track IME documents, invoices, and payment.
- Interface with workers compensation scheduling department and case managers.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
