Position Purpose:

This position assists in performing critical and non-critical welding repairs. This position also assists in servicing, replacing, and performing mechanical repairs to plant equipment, as assigned. The incumbent completes light machine work, and insulation removal and replacement. This position receives and maintains accurate plant inventory.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with all critical and non-critical welding in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Welding Society (AWS) Codes.

• Assist in maintaining and repairing all plant equipment, and ensure all tools and equipment are in sound working condition.

• Perform cleaning duties and routine shop/ground maintenance.

• Assist in outdoor yard and grounds maintenance; including lawn, weed control, general cleanup, trash removal, snow, and ice removal, etc. as assigned by plant management.

• When necessary, perform duties in high and confined areas using scaffolding and catwalks.

• Perform minor painting of plant facilities and equipment.

• Assist with handling material for warehouse and general facilities.

• Assist with stocking various supply rooms, cabinets, dispensers, etc.

Qualifications:

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers in both written and verbal forms. This is acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED.). The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires continuous standing; frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds; and occasional sitting, bending, climbing, kneeling, and crawling. This position is continuously exposed to dirt and dust; frequently exposed to extreme heat, fumes, chemicals, vibration, and noise; and hot to cold, poor ventilation, and electrical risks. The incumbent may be required to work in confined areas using scaffolding and catwalks and at heights up to 500 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. This position also requires finger dexterity, good vision and hearing, and the ability to perform close work. Equipment and tools operated include fork lift, crane, hoist, come along, sling, jack hammer, machine cutting tools, drill press, hand tools, saw, drill, sander, impact wrench, and hydraulic, pneumatic and measuring tools. This position is required to repair equipment under pressure due to time constraints (such as outages, etc.). This position is required to be respirator qualified and able to operate a motor vehicle.
