The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC’s forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45).

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Machine Tool Operator (Machinist Maintenance) will support the Fleet and Industrial Operations and Engineering support for Underwater Tracking Range Equipment, Training Vehicles/Shapes, Test and Support Equipment, Equipment and Material Inventory Management and/or Fleet Operations Engineering and Technical Support at the Ford Island, HI industrial complex and operational sites on the Hawaii Detachment Support Services contract. The job is highly comprehensive and challenging, performed in an industrial working environment, focused on improving workflow. Work includes machining, fabricating, solution seeking and at sea operations. This position is located in Honolulu, HI.
What You'll Do:
  • Support at sea operations, pre-event planning, and on the range event operations.
  • Support range events with logistics requirements for tools and equipment.
  • Perform shipboard equipment installations, coordination, and technical process development and process improvements.
  • Perform a diverse set of activities to include use of manual lathes, mills, sand blasting process, shears, wielding, and general mechanics and hydraulics in support of underwater vehicle support equipment.
  • Provide Team Leadership to other personnel.
  • Operate forklifts (10,000 lbs capacity).
  • Perform as a Non-Cab Category 3 Crane Operator (4000 lbs capacity).
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least five (5) Years of experience in industrial, maintenance and repair environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency operating and maintaining a lathe and CNC machine.
  • Must be comfortable working and operating in at-sea environments.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Desired Qualifications:
  • More than five (5) years of experience in industrial and shop operations is desired.
  • Associate's Degree desired.
  • Additional industrial, electronics, welding, machining, hydraulic, or computer experience is desired.
  • Multiple Process Welding Certification is desired.
