Locksmith/Classified Waste Technician Job at Chenega Corporation
Overview:
Responsibilities:
-
The Locksmith/Classified Waste Technician is primarily responsible for managing locks and keys, installing and repairing locks, lock cores and locking devices, set and change combinations of safes, fabricate and issue keys and maintain and repair safes and vaults on JSC, Ellington Field and Sonny Carter Training Facility.

Ensure requirements are in compliance with all related federal, state, local and NASA policies, procedures and regulations

Perform emergency openings, set and change combinations of safes, fabricate and issue keys, issue and control padlocks, along with maintaining work order information.

Assists personnel and key custodians in conducting key audits

Maintain inventory of spare parts and components for all locksmith assignments and duties
-
Install, repair and re-key locks, cylinder cores, evaluate and repair door locks, fabricate and provide maintenance in a timely manner
-
Evaluate, maintain and repair safes, vaults and cabinets
-
Maintain and safely operate tools and machinery in the Locksmith Shop
- Install, repair, re-key, and fabricate keys for all locks and cylinder cores
- Evaluate/repair safes and vaults. Change combinations when required
- Coordinate with maintenance and construction personnel to install new locks

Operate Codemax keying machine utilizing computer and applicable software to look up key codes
- Assume duties of Classified Waste Pick-up, storage and oversight of the destruction of sensitive and classified material
- Complete all required reports, forms, and other documentation in accordance with established procedures in regards to Classified Waste

Other duties as assigned

Three years of experience as a locksmith
-
Working knowledge of mechanical combination locks to include Sargent and Greenleaf, Diebold, Mosler and Simplix
-
Working Knowledge of all electronic combination locks to include Sargent, Yaletronics, Locknetics and Codetronics

Working knowledge of pinning cylinders utilizing multi-master key systems and side bar cylinders to include Primus, Schlage and Yale
-
Working knowledge of repairing/replacing Kaba Mas X-09 & X-10 safe locks

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-
Graduate of an accredited community college and/or a combination of training, seminars, experience or education that provides knowledge required to perform tasking requirements

Must possess valid state driver’s license
-
Must obtain and/or maintain a Locksmith certification from Associated Locksmiths of America
-
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook and NASA developed data systems

Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment

Ability to organize and prioritize work

Excellent interpersonal skills
