The Redwood Empire Sawmill is located in Cloverdale, California. Founded on 1972, and family owned, we are the largest Sawmill in Sonoma County and the largest employer in Cloverdale. Redwood Empire has three locations within six miles of each other and employ over 230 employees.

Job Summary:

The Journey Level Industrial Electrician position provides electrical maintenance support to all three of our sawmill locations. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining electric motors, scanners, drives, and PLCs on equipment used in manufacturing of lumber. This position will also provide basic mechanical support as needed. Redwood Empire offers stable employment, excellent pay and benefits, and opportunities to advance.

Education and Experience:

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Stable employment history with at least four (4) years of Industrial Maintenance work

OR

• Equivalent education to include vocational/technical school certificate.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motors and motor controls.
• Knowledge od DC, VFD, and servo drives.
• Knowledge of single phase and 3-phase power distribution systems.
• Knowledge of various other instrumentation relating to measurement of pressure, flow, temperature, level, weight, etc.
• Working knowledge of industrial electricity issues.
• Experience reading electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience using a computer for record keeping and documentation.
• Troubleshooting experience, including the use of necessary test instruments such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, megger, etc.
• Knowledge of PLC controls, HMI interfaces, and control systems networking.
• Working knowledge of basic industrial mechanical issues.

Preferred:

• Vocational or technical school certificate in related area.
• Experience with CMMS
• Knowledge of fire protection systems
• Experience working with pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Previous experience in Rockwell Software RSLogix and FactoryTalk View Studio (Editor, Me, and SE), AB PowerFlex VFD’s and Kinetics Servos, and Ethernet IP networks using AB Stratix switches.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Will maintain a personal and total commitment to observe all safety rules and regulations, including NEC and NFPA70E (including LOTO and Arc Flash)
• Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks including equipment installation.
• Repair and PM electrical machinery, this may include, but is not limited to: AC/DC motors, drives, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyors, and packing systems, and instrumentation and PLC controls.
• In downtime situations, will analyze and find the cause of equipment’s breakdown.
• Will determine and complete maintenance repairs required to return the equipment to effective operating condition.
• Will adhere to safety lockout procedures and strictly adhere to plant safety rules.
• Will follow excellent housekeeping practices to maintain a clean work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Will climb ladders, scaffolds, or poles.
• Must be able to navigate catwalks.
• Use their hands to feel, control, or handle tools or controls.
